The fatal automobile accident which occurred at Assumption University (ABAC - Bangna Campus) on February 25th, 2018, prematurely took the lives of Miss Lichtsasi Mongkolpornsap (Lis) and Mr. Jessadaporn Buapetch (Oi). Both were sophomore students in the Faculty of Architecture at Assumption University. Their coffins were arranged side by side for the funeral visitation this past week in Chong Lom Temple, Sankhaburi, Chai Nat. More than ten photographs were on display in front of the caskets along with memorabilia of the deceased. Such items which belonged to the couple included a helmet and various replica model cars.
Miss Lichtsasi Mongkolpornsap and Mr. Jessadaporn Buapetch have been referred to as “Bupphesaniwat,” the “Destined Couple.” Their tragic tale has garnered attention due to the shocking number of commonalities which they shared; identical birthdays, similar times of birth, both grew up in single-parent households, studied at the same university in the same faculty and were in the same year, and passed away on the exact same day with similar times of death in the same car.
The atmosphere inside Chong Lom Temple in Chai Nat Province was full of sympathy and mourning. Attendees included family and relatives from both sides as well as friends from High school and University who described the deceased couple as such nice, loving, cheerful, compassionate, generous, and helpful people towards others at all times. Upon hearing the heartbreaking news of their passing, so many adoring friends travelled great distances to attend the ceremony.
The day of the cremation, there were sermons, prayers, and chants before moving the corpses to the funeral pyre around 14:00. Then, at 15:00, the couple were cremated simultaneously to send Lis and Oi on their way to let them travel closely together in harmony through to the afterlife.
