At 2:00 am last night, Police Lieutenant Colonel Pansa Omrapitak, Deputy Superintendent of the Traffic Control Centre for Vibhavadi Rangsit, disclosed that police officers from Vibhavadi Police Station were able to apprehend a cohort of more than 30 young motorbike street racers, AKA "dek wen."

The team of cops intercepted the gang of motorcycle racers on Vibhavadi Road, who had previously arranged to meet together by using social media to race each other between midnight to 3:00 am.  As a result of knowing ahead of time, the officers consequently prepared their forces to be ready to do regular spot checks to find parked motorcyclists congregating in and around Wat Samian Nari.

They then began to setup by closing off the surrounding area to capture the culprits by means of using both police cars and their own vehicles to manage to block their way.  By parking to block in such a manner, the police thus compelled the group of riders to try and flee up the bridge to make a u-turn on Vibhavadi Road's exit opposite of the Yakult Company's building.  This tactic allowed the police to catch the young offenders before the blockade on the bridge.

In total, police officers were able to apprehend 43 suspected motorcycle racers, 15 of whom were juveniles.  Despite being tricked by the police, some racers still got away by fleeing on foot; though their bikes were seized.  The police were able to confiscate 59 motorbikes which were then brought to the investigators in order to prosecute according to the law all of the charges brought against the racers.  These include reckless illegal street racing on public roads without considering the safety of people's lives and the property of oneself or others in accordance with the Road Traffic Act.
