"I did not have enough faculties to turn back the car to return home and then, I felt as if I was going to faint. My hands were shaking and I could no longer drive properly so I parked the car by the side of the road. While I still had the strength, I hurried to press the SOS feature on the JS100 app to ask for assistance. Talking with the operator at the other end of the line was really difficult for me; I almost couldn't do it. Later, as I was losing consciousness, I realized that I saw an officer approaching."
Khun Suwaporn recalled to JS100 the events of the morning before. She had asked JS100's SOS operator for help while concurrently being in the process of fainting. She was unable to drive any further so she parked her brown Mazda 2 by the roadside. She then pressed the SOS feature which triangulated on her location and relayed her coordinates.
The system showed that she was by the side of Ratchaphruek Road's outward bound lane opposite to D'Habitat Ratchapruek (Bangkrang, Muang Nonthaburi District, Nonthaburi - Lat, Lon: 13.849668, 100.448421). JS100's operator then coordinated and contacted the police who then dispatched an officer from Bang Sri Muang Police Station and an ambulance crew from Pra Nang Klao Hospital. They all rushed to the scene immediately.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Nathakorn Nopnob, a Police Traffic Inspector from Bang Sri Muang Police Station, was the first to arrive on the scene. At that point, Khun Suwaporn's hands and legs were slightly paralyzed and her complexion was a pale yellow. When responding to questions, she was still aware and lucid, but spoke without any strength.
First aid responders then opened the doors and windows to ventilate the car. Moments later, a Good Samaritan drove by and stopped to help. Hearing her speak to Khun Suwaporn, at first it was thought that she was a relative. However, it later came to be known that she's a nurse who stopped by to help when she saw that the lady needed help. Her initial recommendation was to give first aid to her.
The police were great and there was a joint effort of dutiful helpers who stayed to provide support. As soon as the ambulance arrived, they rushed to transport Khun Suwaporn to the hospital immediately. Along the way, a portion of responsible citizens drove out of the way to let the emergency vehicle pass.
Khun Suwaporn then recalled to us that she was unable to ask the name of the officer who pulled over to help drive and park her car in a safe spot at Bang Sri Muang Police Station. That same officer spoke to Khun Suwaporn's husband on the telephone to explain what had happened to her. He described the following series of events to him. Lately, though she'd been feeling down and not eating much, she'd still been doing heavy workouts. Before going to work, she ran 10 km, which caused her to experience extreme fatigue and have the fainting episode.
The latest report at the time of writing was that the doctor was still keeping an eye on Khun Suwaporn's symptoms and waiting for her to finish her IV drip to replenish her electrolytes. Although she is aware of her medical condition, she did not eat in the morning before working out and going to work at the office on Ratchdaphisek Road. Due to her listlessness, there came a point on her commute that day in which she found herself unable to turn back the car to return home. Overall, she would like to thank all of the officers, staff, rescue personnel, and everyone from JS100 very much for their roles in ensuring her safety.
As for the SOS system, it is an emergency service in the JS100 application with the capability to pinpoint the location of the user's phone when activated via GPS. The user need only press "Confirm" to contact the call center and report the confirmation code that will have been sent to them immediately.
There is also a special call waiting feature to speed up the process, so please be ready to give details of the incident and basic information when prompted. This will help JS100's operators to coordinate the appropriate services so that they can help as soon as possible. The JS100 app is free to download for both iOS and Android.
